Building Houston’s Future with Innovative Concrete Solutions
Location: Houston Zoo, Houston, TX
Scope: Decorative Concrete at Jack’s Café & Reflection Pool
Finish: Brick Red Exposed Aggregate, Hand-Seeded Gravel & Full Exposed Aggregate
At Jack’s Café within the Houston Zoo, Bomanite Houston delivered a series of decorative concrete installations designed to complement the surrounding architecture and landscape. The café features a warm Brick Red color with an exposed aggregate finish, creating a durable, textured surface that feels both inviting and naturally integrated into the zoo environment.
At the nearby reflection pool, hand-seeded gravel and a full exposed aggregate finish introduce additional texture and visual interest. The exposed stone creates an organic appearance that complements the water feature while providing the long-term performance required for a heavily traveled public space.
Together, these finishes create a cohesive connection between the café, reflection pool, and surrounding pathways. The project demonstrates how thoughtfully selected decorative concrete can enhance high-traffic hospitality and public environments while supporting the broader architectural vision.
